  At this past weekend's Northern Virginia High School Regional Championship meet, Mako swimmers dominated the meet, particularly in the sprint freestyle events. In the Girls 50 Freestyle event, the following Mako swimmers swept 1st through 6th place:

• Mako Florida Training Trip a Blast!
  
  Mako swimmers, coaches and parents recently returned from the annual winter training trip - this season traveling to Key Largo, FL. Photos are available online. The weather cooperated nicely (75 degrees and sunny most every day), and the training facilities were outstanding. We practiced hard, and played hard as well, taking day trips to the Everglades, snorkeling on a reef, jet skiing and playing with the dolphins. Details on this upcoming December's training trip will become available soon.

• Congratulations to New Mako Papa Scot!
  
  Coach Scot Budde's wife, Melissa, gave birth to Klete Holden Budde on Sunday, November 26th at 12:33 pm. Klete was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 21 inches long with a head full of brown hair. Melissa, who is doing very well herself, took him to his first pediatrician appointment where he received a clean bill of health.

• Prince William Mako Competition Heats Up... A Cake?
  
  Recently, at the end of a two hour practice, Coach Noah paired off Abby MacDonald and Ford Whitticar, who are both the overall Top seeds in the 11-12 50 freestyle at the upcoming Tom Dolan Invitational in front of the entire training group. The loser had to bring the group desert the next practice.
  
  In a classic case of David and Goliath, Ford stepped up to the block almost 7 inches taller then Abby. So, with everyone cheering around them, they dove off and raced the 50 free. Ford just outtouched Abby 25.1 to 25.3 seconds. Abby's time was just .11seconds away from a National Top-16 time! The next day Abby and her family brough in a cake to share with the group (especially Coach "Spare Tire" Noah). On the cake was the phrase 'next time I will beat you'. Just goes to show how team support, friendliness, and intense desire all go together to achieve greatness.
